I was determined to make today a better day and not mope and mourn. I even took an additional mouthful of medicine in the field to push a little deeper.
I debated throwing the stones representing my parents into the river to release them, but I realized that even dead, you can’t cast your parents away. But you can put them in your pocket and only pull them out when you need their teachings, or just to be reminded of them. I permanently kept the stones and they will go on my “altar” when I get home.
There is a beautiful field next to the river with grass, rocks, and small running streams through it. I discovered I love walking through it barefoot and feeling all the various sensations on different parts of my feet. I was very “in the moment” and as close to enjoying it as i can at this point.
I spent time thinking about family, friends, and pets and how each of them represents some type of love.
